Deep Dive : Dedra Meero

Dedra seems to be among the top leaders from SEC that people are excited to play.  The ability seems strong despite not having full control over it's outcome, but what better way to understand a leader than to build a deck module for it and try it out in some games.

I also whipped up a premiere deck using mostly commons : You can never be too aggressive in preserving order

I think Dedra might be the devs attempt at A/B testing in the wild.  Here's my thought process.  Daring Raid is already a card that costs 1 resource to do 2 damage.  Several cards that allow you to draw two cards costs 2 resources, so it stands to reason that drawing one card is probably roughly a resource.  Dedra's ability costs one.  Tracking which choice your opponent makes gives us data we can analyze.  And then we can get a sense for which ability players consider more valuable, dealing 2 damage to a unit or drawing a card.

Sure, Twin Suns versus Premiere might be different as the number of players changes the value somewhat.  And I also concede that certain situations you probably don't want to let the Dedra player draw cards and taking the 2 damage might not be too bad.  Especially if you are healing your units.  But I wanted some tangible data rather than hand waving and spouting anecdotal evidence.

So far in my games my opponents have chosen to take 2 damage to a unit of my choice roughly 35% of the time and to let me draw a card 65% of the times.  Based on my data it's more likely you'll be drawing cards with Dedra's ability.  Additionally it's appears that 2 damage to a unit has more value than drawing a card.  I'm curious if this will play out long term in the meta, and players concur that they'd rather let Dedra players draw cards.  If we see a change in costing for card draw or doing unit damage in the next few sets, I will not be surprised.
